History
The Japan Evangelical Lutheran Matsumoto Church is part of the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Protestant church in the tradition of 16th-century reformer Martin Luther.
Christianity includes Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant traditions.
The Lutheran Church is a Protestant denomination, named after Martin Luther.
The roots of the Matsumoto Church go back to 1959, when Pastor Hisashi Shiobara began meetings in a rented house in the Shirasaka area of Matsumoto.
In January 1963, land was purchased at the current location, and worship began in a newly built parsonage in December that year.
The chapel was completed in December 1966. In 2011, the building was renovated for earthquake resistance, and in September 2012, youth volunteers built a wooden deck during a "Work Camp in Matsumoto."
